Media Developer, Microsoft Learning
December 2003-Current
- Managed graphics pass for PowerPoint slides to insure that they meet our graphic standards, managing vendors and coordinating with internal staff
- Act as graphics contact person for MS ILT
- Worked on ILT PowerPoint decks for 21 courses (as of 8/04)
- Worked in a small team to give our ILT PPT guidelines a graphics pass, to make it easier for authors and graphics vendors to use and understand. I also created a new guideline/template for the introduction module, so that the course introductions would be in line with our guidelines.
- Act as resource for four MS groups (MS Cert, ILT, eLearning and MS Press)
- Worked with the Cert team to develop a process for creating graphics. This is a task that the Content Development Managers started a few years ago and then dropped; When I started they had no process for creating graphics, and no graphics resource. There is now a defined process in their help tool
- I attended an Item Writer Workshops (Cert) to give a Visio lesson to their technical writers, and used the information I gathered to develop a tutorial guide for the writers
- I worked with a Cert Content Development Editor (CDE) to create a unified Visio template which links two new stencils, so that there is now one clean and clear place to go for graphics templates.
- I worked on a small team with a Cert Content Development Manager and a Technical Editor to define what a graphics pass would consist of (amount of time allotted in the schedule and tasks involved), document this information and roll it out to the group
- Made a successful graphics pass on 4 exams (as of 8/04)
